Phishing eMail Scam targeted Facbook and Google for $100 Million Dollars.
So how does one scam companies like Facebook and Google out of $100 Million Dollars?
Evaldas Rimasauskas, 50, pleaded guilty last week to wire fraud. The scheme used was to register a fake company whose name was the same as a company which did business with Google and Facebook. Then Phishing emails were sent asking for money to pay fake invoices.

The scam was started in 2013. It worked and kept being used. Then in 2017 Evaldas was arrested in Lithuania and was then extradited to the US where he was charged with one count of Wire Fraud. Evaldas also had to forfeit over $49 Million dollars.

One would think that after scamming Millions of Dollars, that Evaldas would have done a quick Google search for countries which do not have an Extradition Treaty with the US. The other question which comes to mind is: When is the amount scammed enough? Why keep doing it till you are caught? I believe such actions are due to someone being afflicted with “Never Enough Disease”.

McLaren 650S crashed at 186 MPH. Driver survived
In Germany there are no speed limits on certain roadways. A guy and apparently his girlfriend went out on one of the No Speed Limit highways in his father’s McLaren 650S. He informed the Police that he had been driving at 186 MPH (in the left lane where there is no speed limit). He then lost control, swerving into the right lane and then into a crash barrier. His passenger was thrown out of the vehicle as her seatbelt snapped off. The driver survived. There was no mention of the Driver being severely injured.
Aside from the very sad of the loss of a life, this speaks well of the construction of the Mclaren 650S. The driver survived the 186 MPH crash. I highly doubt that would be the case with most regular cars out on the road even crashing at half the speed at which the McLaren had crashed.
I’m also rather amazed that the tires on the McLaren held up at such a high speed.

BTW, I am in no way suggesting that it is OK to drive any car on a public highway at such insanely high speeds. What if they had come upon a slower driving Porsche which was driving at say 100 Mph? The braking distance needed at 186 MPH would likely cause a high speed rear end crash. Try hammering on the brakes while traveling at 186MPH and controlling the car and praying that the tires do not melt or burst into flames.
Lockergoga Ransomware may be Stopped from encrypting files by a faulty “.LNK” file
The Alert Logic Blog posted about a coding error found in variants of the Lockergoga ransomware. Before encrypting any files, Lockergoga first checked for certain files including Windows “.LNK” files.
The Security Team at Alert Logic found that if Lockergoga came across a malformed (invalid) “.LNK” file, then it would cause a Windows Exception Error which would then automatically stop Lockergoga in it’s tracks. This is all before the File Encryption Process was started.
Creating a malformed “.LNK” file may be a short term vaccine against present variants of Lockergoga. It is highly likely that the people who built Lockergoga will remove the “.LNK” file check in future variants of Lockergoga.

There is Ransomeware protection software available which is based on “Behaviour”. It allows the the Ransomeware to run, but will stop it when it starts to encrypt files in protected folders. Those protected folders also have backups of the files, which can then be restored as needed.

Ranstop is behaviour based security software. It is not Signature based. It caught Lockergoga when it started the encryption process. Since the protected folders have the files backed up, any file encrypted prior to stopping Lockergoga, could be recovered.

Shares prices tumbled in Asia on Monday after Wall Street’s share price drop last Friday
Shares prices tumbled in Asia on Monday Mar 25. The drop in Asia is being linked to the Friday Mar 22 drop on North American Stock Markets. The Japan’s Nikkei Index dropped over 3%. The Hong Kong market’s Hang Seng Index dropped over 2%.

Surprising that the Market Indexes on US exchanges have held steady all morning (some have a minor rise in their Index). It’s lunch time and so trading drops off and we will see what happens after 3PM EST.
I’m surprised that the US Stock Market Indexes have not had a rather Down day today. When the markets tank on a Friday, often that does negatively impact trading the following Monday. We’ll see how the day ends.

Earth’s North Magnetic Pole is moving quickly away from the Canadian Arctic toward Siberia.
Earth’s North magnetic pole is moving faster towards Siberia. Because of the shifting of the North Pole, NCEI’s scientists have had to issue an early update of the World Magnetic Model.

Inverted Yield Curve indicates that a Recession is coming!
An Inverted Yield Curve has historically been a reliable signal that a Recession is on its way! You get an Inverted Yield Curve when short-term yields are higher than longer-term yields.
The Dow Index dropped over 460 points today Fri Mar 22 2019. The S&P Index fell 1.9% and the Nasdaq dropped 2.5%. The Russell 200 fell over 3.6%.

Why?
People will have Sat and Sun to get worried. When Investors get worried they tend to Sell. I believe that Monday Mar 25 will be another down day in the Stock Markets.
Next Monday’s drops should be greater than today’s drops.

US Fed announced no Interest Hikes in 2019
In 2018, the US Fed had stated that there would be up to three Interest Rate hikes in 2019. Today the Fed announced that there will not be any Interest rate Hikes in 2019. Yes, they seem to have reversed course.
IMHO I believe this is smoke and mirrors. The Price of Oil has had a price breakout upwards. Expect to pay MORE for fuel. That will spark Inflation again, just as it had last year. When the Rate of Inflation goes up, then the US Fed will raise Interest Rates.

Oil Price breakout upwards
The fastest way to increase Inflation is to raise the price of Oil. When the cost of Oil is raised, then the cost of Fuel will also go up. That impacts all goods sold. Why? All goods sold need to be transported. When the cost of Fuel goes up, so does the cost of Shipping and Distribution. Those rising costs get passed to the consumer. Hence the Rate of Inflation rises.

If you want to raise Internet Rates (as the US FED had started to do last year) then you need a rising Inflation Rate as justification.
The U.S. Fed will continue to raise Interest Rates in 2019.

IMHO the Stock Market party is almost over
Back in Dec I called that the upcoming stock market rally would be a “Sucker Rally“, which would allow deeper pockets to off load their stock holdings. BlackRock’s Chief Equity Strategist Kate Moore called it a “Risk Rally” when she recently stated “A lot of the investors within BlackRock and around the street have been using the big rally in stocks as an opportunity to fade some risk, and rebalancing portfolios. I’d be hard pressed to come up with a segment of our clients that was buying aggressively into this risk rally,”.

The US Fed will be holding meetings for the next two days. They will continue to raise Interest Rates again this year. I’m just not sure if they will have a rate increase now or wait till later this year. The key excuse of raising Interest Rates is to fight Inflationary Pressure.
I have noted that Gasoline prices have stopped going down and IMHO have started to reverse back upwards. The price of fuel impacts the price of all goods sold, as those goods have to be transported. Raise the price of fuel and you trigger an increase in the Rate of Inflation. That theme was used last year to trigger Inflation Growth to help justify the increases in Internet Rates. It worked until it impacted the Stock Markets last December.
When Interest Rates are increased once more, that will imho trigger a Stock Market correction which will lead into a Major Recession. 2019 should see Stock Market and Economic changes of Historic Proportions.

Having Bad Breath could be a Major Risk Factor in developing Alzheimer’s Disease and Cardiovascular Disease.
A new Medical Study just released sheds light on P. gingivalis colonization in a human Brain as being the cause of developing Alzheimer’s Disease. The study also found that 100% of patients with Cardiovascular Disease had P. gingivalis arterial colonization.
The medical study is published by American Association for the Advancement of Science – Science Advances. “The bacterium called gingipains (P. gingivalis) were identified in the brain of Alzheimer’s patients.”

“Oral P. gingivalis infection in mice resulted in brain colonization and increased production of Aβ1–42, a component of amyloid plaques. Further, gingipains were neurotoxic in vivo and in vitro, exerting detrimental effects on tau, a protein needed for normal neuronal function.”
“Alzheimer’s disease (AD) patients exhibit neuroinflammation consistent with infection, including microglial activation, inflammasome activation, complement activation, and altered cytokine profiles (1, 2). Infectious agents have been found in the brain and postulated to be involved with AD, but robust evidence of causation has not been established (3).”
“In Apoe−/− mice, oral infection with P. gingivalis, but not with two other oral bacteria, results in brain infection and activation of the complement pathway (14). In transgenic mice overexpressing mutated human amyloid precursor protein (hAPP-J20), oral infection with P. gingivalis impairs cognitive function, increases the deposition of AD-like plaques, and results in alveolar bone loss compared to control hAPP-J20 mice (15). P. gingivalis lipopolysaccharide has been detected in human AD brains (16), promoting the hypothesis that P. gingivalis infection of the brain plays a role in AD pathogenesis (17).”
“P. gingivalis is mainly found during gingival and periodontal infections; however, it can also be found at low levels in 25% of healthy individuals with no oral disease (18). Transient bacteremia of P. gingivalis can occur during common activities such as brushing, flossing, and chewing, as well as during dental procedures (19), resulting in documented translocation to a variety of tissues including coronary arteries (20), placenta (21), and liver (22).”

The International Monetary Fund has cut its world economic growth forecast for 2019
The International Monetary Fund has cut its world economic growth forecast for 2019. The IMF projected a 3.5 percent growth rate worldwide for 2019. that is 0.2 percent lower than their prior projection made in Oct. 2018.

I called it a Sucker Rally. That is the current rise in the US Stock markets, so far in 2019.
Seems that I am not alone in being concerned that there is more volatility to come in 2019.
