I used to drive down to Cayuga raceway to watch the Drag Races. The site is called Toronto Motorsports Park. That park has a dragstrip along with a car racing course. Some of the machinery was jaw dropping. I was amazed to see “Snowmobiles” drag racing on that dragstrip in the middle of summer.
There was the odd accident – maybe once per season. Nothing happened that was anywhere near what had happened to a 4,000 Horsepower Corvette at Tulsa Raceway Park. It literally took flight.
It was interesting to note that both of the drag race cars raised their front end. I was surprised that such powerful machines did not have a Wheelie Bar at the rear. Such a bar has small wheels and limits the amount that the machine can rise up in the air. The wheelie bar would limit the rise. had this corvette had that, I doubt that it would have taken flight as it did.
At the end it was great to see the driver come out of the Corvette. He was probably shook-up and upset about the car damage but looked to be physically unharmed.
I attended a prior Cosmo MusicFest & Expo which featured I Mother Earth. Really well put together day.
Cosmo Music is a fantastic Music Instrument Store. They are apparently the largest such store in North America. I picked up a guitar amp from them years back.
The 2017 edition of Cosmo MusicFest & Expo features on the Main Stage the following artists: Mother Mother – Juno nominated Vancouver-based band.
The Beaches– Jordan Miller on lead guitar, her sister Kylie Miller on vocals and bass, Eliza Enman-McDaniel on drums, and Leandra Earl on keyboards. Ishot The Beaches when they played at Harbourfront. A really awesomeband.
There will also be ticketed clinic events held in the Cosmopolitan Music Hall. In Association with Ibanez Guitars there will be Clinics featuring amazing Guitarists Nita Strauss and Nili Brosh.
About a dozen very expensive Exotic cars were traveling north of Toronto, along Highway 400 today (Sun April 02). The Exotic Car Cruise may have gotten competitive. People driving beat up normal cars called the Ontario Provincial Police via their Cell phones. The Police pulled the Exotic cars off the highway.
About 12 Exotic were impounded and hauled away, including models by Porsche, Lamborghini, Ferrari and also a Rolls Royce. The drivers were apparently charged with stunt driving and their Driver’s Licenses were suspended.
A few years back I shot the Gumball 3000 Rally when they made a rare visit to Yorkville, in Toronto. When they left town to get to Niagara, a number of Exotic Cars were apparently also impounded for seven days. Apparently, the drivers may have had a heavy foot. With no other cars in front of them, instinct I assume kicked in. Hard to complete the Gumball Rally when your car has been towed away. The Gumball 3000 Rally has stayed out of Canada since then.
It was cool to see that Arkells was in the lineup. They hail from Hamilton, Ontario. I was also surprised to see Toots and the Maytals on the Coachella Lineup
One of the greatest rock bands of all time, The Who, and the delightfully original Gorillazvirtual band members will be headlining the 50th Festival d’été de Québec along with Kendrick Lamar, P!nk, Metallicaand Muse. More than 100 new names have been added to the 50 released earlier this month, including pop star Nick Jonas and the Canadian indie rock duo Death from Above 1979.
“Québec is known as a rock music town and this genre is almost a FEQ trademark. So we needed to lay on the rock for our 50th. After Paul McCartney, in Québec for its 400th anniversary in 2008, The Rolling Stones, who came to the Festival in 2015, we are especially pleased to bring a leader of the “British Invasion”, the legendary band The Who, to Québec for the very first time. This is musical history in the making!” said general manager Daniel Gélinas.
OUTDOOR STAGES Bell Stage on the Plains of Abraham If you want to see The Who this summer, plan on coming to the FEQ, the only festival anywhere in Canada they’ll be playing, for the July 13 opening show of their farewell tour. Ever since 1964, they’ve shaped the entire rock music scene with hits like My Generation, Pinball Wizard, Baba O’Riley, Won’t Get Fooled Again or I Can See for Miles and with their many albums.
As for Gorillaz, this will be their first time in town and their only show in Québec. The British band, expertly directed by Damon Albarn (Blur), brings out its fifth album, Humanz, in late April. A one-of-a-kind musical performance and experience to put on your agenda for July 15.
News that the Backstreet Boyswere playing the Festival has sparked quite a buzz. Jonas Brothers fans are in for an awesome evening on Sunday, July 9, with actor, singer and multi-instrumentalist Nick Jonas of “Jealous” fame opening. And in one of her few 2017 shows, pop diva P!nk is sure to draw huge crowds on Saturday, July 8, while multiple Grammy winner Kendrick Lamar will give his first Festival appearance, and only show in Québec, on July 7.
FEQ 2016 Emerging Artist award winners the Dead Obies are opening for this paragon of hip-hop. Country pop fans will be giving a warm welcome to Lady Antebellum, winners of 10 Academy of Country Music awards, onstage with rising star Kelsea Ballerini on July 10, with Gabrielle Shonk opening the show.
Folk takes centre stage with the Cowboys Fringants and Lisa LeBlanc, who’s slated to kick off the show on July 11. Expect both to show up with lots of friends.
Local metal bands Voivod and Metalord has been tapped to warm up the crowd at the Bell Stage for an iconic band in FEQ history, Metallica, in a heavy metal night to remember on July 14!
Long awaited by Festival fans, UK band Muse wraps up the 11 intensive days of music with the rock band from Los Angeles, Mondo Cozmo (Joshua Ostrander) in a fitting climax to this anniversary edition.
Joe Walsh will be on Facebook Live
with his good friend Joe Vitale on Apr 7th at 1pm Pacific Standard Time to answer fan questions! That I believe will be at 4pm Eastern Standard Time.

Amazon.com offers buyers convenience and there is also the price. One thing that is not often mentioned is that Amazon.com opened it’s platform to other 3rd party sellers. Over 2 million sellers are doing so.
Those 3rd party sellers compete vigorously against each other. Sometimes Amazon itself will compete against its own clients, that is those 3rd party sellers. The Holy Grail at Amazon is to be featured in the Amazon Buy Box
Close to 50% of Amazon’s sales are made by that over 2 million strong army of 3rd party sellers. It’s a win-win situation for consumers, for the 3rd party vendors and also for Amazon.com as they get a percentage of all sales. IMHO allowing 3rd party sellers to sell on amazon.com played a huge role in making Amazing as big as it is today – and still very much growing even bigger.
The losers in this new Retail Landscape are the vast number of Brick and Mortar retailers. For example, check the recent earnings filings for say Sears Holdings and Staples Inc. Losses – while Amazon and friends are making Billions.
The price competition to get featured in Amazon’s Buy Box has opened the door for 3rd party firms to develop software which monitors item prices on Amazon. Artificial Intelligence is also incorporated in some offerings. Why? So that those 3rd party sellers (who purchase such analytical services) can beat out Amazon and the other 3rd party competition. The key is to get the Amazon Buy Box.
When you move a lot of packages, as Amazon does, you also may consider getting into the Transport and Shipping business. The Seatle Times newspaper has an interesting article about Amazon in that regard, with their Chinese 3rd party sellers. Amazon.com changed Retail and Amazon could change Transport and Shipping.
It’s not just about the price. It’s also very much about the “convenience”. Henry Ford gave consumers the automobile and changed the world. Jeff Bezos is this century’s Henry Ford and he is also changing the world…
Verizon sells a product which they call the Verizon Hum. It provides features like Vehicle Diagnostics, Maintenance Reminders, a Mechanics Hotline, Pinpoint Roadside Assistance, Stolen Vehicle Assistance. Emergency Assistance, Vehicle Location, and Speed Alerts.
To help bring Verizon Hum to everyone’s attention, Verizon has also created a promotional vehicle which they call the Verizon Hum Rider.
The Verizon Hum is a useful additional for one’s car. The Verizon Hum Rider would be the daily Commuter’s Dream Come True.
IMHO this promotion machine shows the concept as being viable. This would be a great modification to add to EMS vehicles and Ambulances. Police cars with this type of mod could get to highway accident scenes.
If it works for a car, then add this mod to a Fire Truck. It would allow the Fire Truck to get to the scene of a major car crash, that had traffic backed up for miles.
A Canadian firm called Raised by Wolves, based in Montreal, has some unique footwear.
When something has really gotten under your skin, let your Raised by Wolves shoes inform the world that you do not wish to be disturbed.
What the heck am I talking about, you ask?
Raised by Wolves has some “unique” footwear. The model is called FUCK OFF SLIDES. No, that is not one of my many typos. They really are called “FUCK OFF SLIDES“. Here comes the proof:
Christie Goodwin is the official photographer at the Royal Albert Hall. She also works as a Tour Photog. Bands will hire Christie to tour with them and shoot their concerts.
A lot of Musicians visit Uniquely Toronto. If you are in a band and are looking to get some astoundingly amazing concert photos of one of your shows, Christie Goodwin would the Concert Photog that I would call. Seriously amazing Photographer.
Christie mentions something in this video. She does not Chimp her shots at the concert. So many concert photogs will constantly check their camera to look at the shots they took. Why waste time looking at your own shots during the concert????
When I had first started UniquelyToronto.com I did a hilarious post about How to easily get Media Passes for Concerts. That post went viral among Concert Photogs. I got a ton of emails. Many told me that had no clue what I was talking about. Others sent me huge multi-page emails informing me about Concert Photography.
I’m not a newbie. That post was a clearly and obviously filled with humorous statements. I’ll give you one example: I suggested that New Concert Photogs visit eBay and buy a Pro Nikon SLR camera Strap. Bright yellow with NIKON D4 or D5 on it. That way anyone looking at you will see your strap and conclude that you are using a very expensive Nikon Pro camera. Then use black electrical tape to tape over the make and model of your own low priced, but still very capable DSLR camera.Voila – you are now considered a Pro Photog. To my mind that is humorous. Some concert photogs did appreciate my sense of humour. Christie Goodwin was one the few major Concert Photographers who got what that post was about. Someone sent her an email to check out my post. She found it to be a funny post and she sent me an email saying that. Christie is an awesome Concert Photographer and a really nice person to boot.

I think that President Trump does make a valid point. For example, IT jobs are being outsourced to the Phillippines and India in both the U.S. and Canada. When I called my Canadian Internet Service Provider for Tech Support, I got to speak with some really nice ladies in the Philippines. Then they needed Bell Canada Tech Support to help further, and I got to speak to a guy in India.
John Goodenough helped to develop the Lithium-Ion Battery. He and Maria Helena Braga are part of a team, which has designed a New Technology for High capacity, Fast-Charging and Noncombustible Batteries.
Such a battery could let one drive an electric car for up to 500 miles or more between battery charges. The battery could charge in the time it takes to order and eat a sandwich while drinking a cup of coffee at a roadside restaurant. The key safety feature is that the new battery design would not burst into flames if the battery is punctured

The next time that life has you feeling down. Cheer up. One hundred years from now, whatever you are fretting about will be of NO IMPORTANCE.
We only get but an extremely brief flicker of what we call Life.
Stop fretting and start living, while you still can.
Quote: “In the year 2017 there are more than 7.4 Billion Humans alive on this planet which we call earth. By 2117 they will ALL be DEAD! We are just an extremely short Flicker of Life. Stop fretting and start living, while you still can.”
