1952 Fender Telecaster Guitar taken into a Pawn Shop

Fender Telecaster guitar  produced in Jan 25 1952 in Mint original condition. That particular guitar was built by Fender Master Guitar Builder Tadeo Gomez . The Guitar has a black pick guard which was used between 1952 thru 1954.

Video is courtesy of the History YouTube channel

The kid in the video brings in the above guitar to a Pawn Shop. Upon inspection a Pawn Shop Guitar Expert states that a Telecaster guitar, of similar vintage as the one brought in, sells for $25,000 to $30,000. Look at the video, this 1952 Fender Telecaster guitar is in original mint condition.

It took not much more than a couple of minutes to find a similar guitar selling retail for over $41,000 US at Denmark Street Guitars. If sold at say a Christie Auction, a 1952 Fender Telecaster guitar in mint condition, I believe could sell for much more.

The kid accepts $13,000. When a Pawn Shop readily offers to give you $13,000 cash for an item, you can rest assured that it is possibly worth a heck of a lot more than $13,000.

I figured this video would well with the prior post of a video of the Fender Guitar factory tour from the 1950s.

Fender Electric Instrument Co. Factory Tour from the 1950s

This was originally filmed in 1959 (and earlier) on 8mm Film by Forrest White. He was a close friend of Leo Fender and worked as the General Manager at the Fender factory.

Video is courtesy of the CinePost YouTube channel.

CinePost did the Digital Film Restoration. Ross Lenenski did the editiing of the final version. Music is played by Music by Russell Eldridge on his year 2000 Stratocaster.

I’ll post another video of the New Fender factory. Back in the 1950s everything was hand made. The body was individually cutout on a bandsaw, guided by an expert set of hands. In the modern Fender factory video eight Stratocaster bodies were cut out by a Computer Numeric Control (CNC) Milling machine. A second set of 8 Stratocaster bodies were ready to be machined, as the first set of 8 bodies were inspected.

Forest White has also written a book about early years of Fender Electric Instrument Co. It gives you a behind the scenes look at the beginnings of this historic company and Leo Fender, the man behind it.

Clicking on this line will take you to the Amazon site to order Forest Whites’s book titlted: “Fender: The Inside Story”.

BTW, Leo Fender never learned how to play guitar.

PLEASE be careful driving during or after any Snow Storm.

PLEASE be careful driving during or after any Snow Storm.

No on was injured, per the shooter of this video to the best of his knowledge.

A warm day that had melted all the prior snow and made the streets wet. Then the temperature dropped creating ice on top of which fell a new coating of snow. Add to that was the fact that this occurred on a hill.

Rather sad video. In life one can sometimes expect the unexpected to happen. Gad that no one was physically injured.

Drive carefully and maybe even consider not driving. Walk or take Public Transit if you can. PLEASE stay safe my friends…

1,000 hp Supercar. Faraday Future presented their “FF ZERO1” all Electric Beauty to the world at CES 2016

Video is courtesy of the CNNMoney YouTube channel.

A 1,000 hp Electric Supercar is not something new, but it is very rare.

Rimac has a 1088hp Supercar which they have run on a track. It’s liquid cooled battery pack can get the Rimac Supercar to go from 0-to-60 mph in about 2.8 seconds. Precious few Exotic cars can do 0-to-60 mph in under 3 seconds. At normal highway speeds the Rimac can also cover a bit over 350 miles on a single charge. At the 190 Mph top speed your distance travel would be a fraction of that. At 190 mph I’d more concerned about having a tire blowout-melt from overheating that traveling a long distance.

Faraday Future made big splash at the 2016 CES show in Las Vegas. They unveiled their FFZERO1 “Concept” car. All Electric powered. Body and frame made from Carbon Fibre and composites. 1,000 hp from it’s four motors – one at each wheel. Racing Suspension. Drive by wire design. Room for one, the driver.

The FF ZERO1 is said to do 0-to-60 mph in under 3 seconds.

Faraday Future is positioning itself to compete with Tesla Motors. So far they have approx 400 very highly skilled employees. Essentially they are at the Design House stage. Creating and making a Production Electric Vehicle, is another story and a very expensive one.

“Start Anew” by Kyp Harness

Theme Song for this week Titled “Start Anew” by Kyp Harness.

Got an email suggesting that I check this artist out. Okay.

The last line in the email spoke about where to get a bio, pics and to download Kyp’s soon to be released album. Fine.

The last word was the password which should be used to D/L the album. Awesome password – you got me hooked.

This artist harkens back to another, “better” age of music. An age where the words in songs created mindscapes and in turn memories. An age when singers had something to share with the world. Now we are left with Hip Hop and Justin Bieber.

We’ll do a proper review of Kyp Harness and his new upcoming album titled “Stoplight Moon“, but I wanted to post about one of his songs whose words hit home this week.

Back to this week. It started at the end of last week and I can’t shake it. Even going to Church,  the local LCBO  (liquor store for those outside of Ontario) as a friend calls it, did nothing.

The lyrics which Kyp Harness has created grab you. There is a song about Politicians and Crooks which  put a smile on my face. Then on YouTube I happened on his song titled “Start Anew“.

Stuff happens for a reason. The mood that I’m in. Finding the song “Start Anew”. Enjoy…

Winning it Big in a Lottery

You sat there watching the lottery numbers show up on the TV screen. One by one, you see your numbers. You rub your eyes in disbelief.

You are a big winner !

What now?

1Sign the back of the ticket. Make that signature is small. Leave room to add to it. Once signed, that ticket is now yours.

2 – make a photocopy of the winning ticket. Or create a digital scan of it.

3 – Do Not Tell anyone anything about your “Big Win”.

4 – Get a safety Deposit box at your bank and deposit your winning ticket in the box.

5 – Find a Law Firm which has had prior experience working with Big Lottery Winners. There are different ways to collect your winning. There are Tax Advantages to some.

6 – Set a date when you will pick up your winnings

7 – Work with a Real Estate Agent to buy a new property. Your Law Firm will advance you funds to purchase said property or even better they will purchase it under their name.

8 – Days before you are to pickup your Lottery Winning, move to your new property. At your old house, leave curtains and setup timers to turn lights on and off in the evening.

9 – Days before you are to pickup your Lottery Winning, get your Law Firm to rent you a car in their name.

10 – A day or two before you pickup your winnings get your Law Firm to rent a Hotel room for you.

11 – Pickup your Lottery Winning with your Lawyer. The Law Firm will handle depositing the money in the assorted accounts which were created with you days before.

12 – Take a cab from the Lottery Office to your Hotel room. You will live there for the next week. Inform people who might worry about you that you will taking a short holiday.

13 – The media will gather by your old home (which is still in your name). They want to interview such a “big Winner”. Media attention is the last thing that you want.

14 – About one week after you picked up your winnings, walk out of the Hotel and take public transit to your Lawyer’s Office. Your rental car will be waiting there.

15 – Have your Law Firm arrange to sell your old home.

16 – The media attention will go away. You have remained essentially unknown.

Do not do what one of the recent US Powerball Winners did. They appeared on National TV (with their Lawyer) and they did it prior to picking up their winnings. The truth can be stranger than fiction.

Putting a huge “Target” sign on you, might not be the best approach.

There is a Law Firm which has worked with prior Big Lottery Winners.

Their website is thelottyerlawyer.com Checking their site you will find something interesting on the right side widget panel. They worked with a 245 Million Powerball winner. Note that the funds were picked up by a “Trust” (Putnam Avenue Family Trust, winner of $254 million powerball jackpot) and so the actual winner’s name was protected.

Do you think that I have gone off the deep end with the advice above?

Then have a read of the NY Daily News article titled: “Curse of the lottery: Tragic stories of big jackpot winners

T Rex, with Elton John on piano, perform “Get it on”

Get it on” Bang a Gong became a major hit for T Rex. That song brought them to Toronto.

At the CNE Grandstand, T Rex was the opening act. Next up was April Wine. The big Headliner was The Beach Boys. Not sure how drunk or stoned the Booking Agent was to book such a show.

The video below is of a live performance of “Get it on” by T-Rex. It also features a special guest, Elton John playing the piano with T Rex.

Time does not exist

Death is but an illusion

USA TODAY: “Market crash robs $2.3T from investors”

They have dropped the price of Crude Oil to help bolster Western economies. Had the price of Oil not dropped, then IMHO we would have had a major Stock market Crash last year – 1929 style. Thankfully we have not “Yet” had a Stock Market Crash.

The US employment figures are a figment of the Government’s Imagination. There are record numbers of Americans (over 94 Million) who “stopped” looking for work. Why? Because they could NOT find any….

A new article posted by USA Today, goes into some detail of the stocks which fell in price.

Please click on this line to read the USA Today post titled “Market crash robs $2.3T from investors”.

I just hope that they can continue to drop the price of Crude Oil. That is the only thing which in my opinion is propping everything up.

North American International Motorcycle Supershow. You can’t miss this show. I went on Fri Jan 08 and was impressed. Great show

Fri  Jan 08 2016, was the first time that I went to shoot the North American International Motorcycle Supershow. I was expecting a show similar in size to the Spring Motorcycle show which was held in the Better Living Centre at the CNE.

Speed Trix Custom Motorcycle at the North American International Motorcycle Supershow 2016

Speed Trix Custom Motorcycle at the North American International Motorcycle Supershow 2016

I was floored. The North American International Motorcycle Supershow is “H-u-g-e”. It is the largest Motorcycle show in North America.

Custom Motorcycles filled Hall 5, my first stop. a few of the custom bikes I had seen at prior shows. For example,  Anaconda the Three Wheeler was on display. Hall 5 was filled with some amazing Eye Candy.

Terez Leather fashion show at the North American International Motorcycle Supershow 2016

Terez Leather fashion show at the North American International Motorcycle Supershow 2016

Hall 5 also has a large stage. I caught a Leather Fashion Show by Terez Leather.

Then a band called The FlairZ came on stage. Never heard of them. I looked up onto the stage and recognized faces.

On Bass was the amazing Jeff Jones.

Jeff Jones on Bass with The Flairz performing at the North American International Motorcycle Supershow 2016

Jeff Jones on Bass, with The Flairz, performing at the North American International Motorcycle Supershow 2016

The last time that I saw Jeff play was at Nathan Philips Square and he was performing with Tom Cochrane with Red Rider. Jeff Jones is the Bass player in Red Rider. I have also seen Jeff perform with the Carpet Frogs. They are Burton Cummongs (formerly Lead Singer with Canada’s The Guess Who) backup band.

On Drums and Lead Vocals was none other than
Sean Fitzsimons. Sean is also the Drummer with the Carpet Frogs.

Sean Ftzsimons on Drums with The FlairZ, performing at the North American International Motorcycle Supershow 2016

Rounding out The FlairZ was :
Barbara Sherk on Keyboard and Vocals.

Ronnie Beals was on one guitar.

Rick Spyder was on the other guitar.

Super Super talented musicians. Really enjoyed their set.

On a separate PC I am converting the Raw photo files to DNG and then will run them thru Photoshop. Will start posting more pics tomorrow and Sunday.

The North American International Motorcycle Supershow is literally awesome. Classic bikes. New bikes. Used bikes for sale. Custom bikes. Clothing. Leathers. Helmets. You name it and it can be found there. Many of the booths had huge signs indicating really big discounts on their wares.

Make some time available on Saturday and Sunday and visit this show.

It is at the International Centre on Airport Road, next to Pearson Airport.

Parking is “FREE” for those attending this show.

Click on this line to visit the show web page where you can request a discount coupon for one adult entrance fee.

Ehang 184 Human-carrying Drone

The Ehang (Chinese Drone Manufacturer) model 184 made a huge splash at the 2016 CES show in Las Vegas (Jan 6 thru 9 2016).

Why?

Because it a literally a “huge” Drone (approx 500 lbs), which is capable of carrying one Human Being.

It is designed to travel at up to 60MPG and cover short Distances up to 10 miles. The computer drive Auto Pilot takes care of the Navigating. The passengers just sits and enjoys the view.

Could this be the “Taxi Cab” of the future?
