CBC Television’s new Music Show called Backstage Pass

Photos of the Suzie McNeil concert at the Taste of the Kingsway.

Friday night was a toss up. I wanted to shoot a Vancouver band called The Pack A.D. at Yonge Dundas Square. Only problem was that Suzie McNeil was performing around the same time, at the Taste of the Kingsway, in west Toronto.

Jesse Dee.

Jess Dee had the unenviable task of coming on stage, following the incredible performance by Saidah Baba Talibah at the Beaches International Jazz Festival. The Boston-based soul singer/songwriter/guitarist Jesse Dee and his Band played a solid set at the Beaches International Jazz Festival. The audience settled back and listened to this group of gifted musicians. Continue reading

Concerts are an opportunity to see and hear some amazing musicians. The emphasis is on seeing. Concerts are a visual experience. If that were not the case, then we would just play a CD or DVD on the home stereo. Continue reading

These Kids Wear Crowns” is a band based on Canada’s west coast in Chilliwack BC. There was another great band out of Chilliwack called “Chilliwack”. I wonder if there is something in the water in Chilliwack which help produce amazing bands every few decades??? It was real treat to get to see them perform on Canada Day in Vaughan. Took lots of concert photos. Continue reading

The National in concert at the NXNE Festival

The National performed at the NXNE Festival. Unfortunately, I had to leave just before their evening set. Earlier during their sound check, they performed one song and these photos were grabbed. Special Thanks go out to Vincent Banial for sharing the photos of this concert with Uniquely Toronto.

The Rolling Stones to play in Toronto. May 25 at the Air Canada Centre.

The Rolling Stones are coming to the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, on May 25. Might be the last opportunity that Torontonians will get to see these guys play live.
Just checked and there were four “centre floor” tickets left at $7,500 each. That’s at Toronto Ticket Sales. At their low end, there are two tickets left at $550 each. I was surprised since I thought that tickets were not available till next Monday.
The Ticketmaster site states that tickets are not available for sale till 10am Apr 08. The ticket price range from Ticketmaster is listed as CA $166.50 – CA $624.50. Visit Ticketmaster by clicking: The Rolling Stones at Air Canada Centre in Toronto.

One of the great songs of the era which we have shared, is Bohemian Rhapsody. It is permanently welded into my memory banks. Queen was arguably one of the best bands, if not the best. They sounded as good live as they did on studio produced albums. Not an easy task. There was also never any lip syncing at their live performances. Continue reading
