On Aug 28 Big Wreck rolled into Toronto to play at the CNE Bandshell. During show setup I was amazed at the number of different guitars, that were being checked. Behind the Drummer’s pod, along the whole rear of the stage were racks of guitars.

The last band that I had shot which featured a lot of guitar players was Lynyrd Skynyrd. Big Wreck has three guitar players. Ian Thornley does double duty as the lead singer and also both rythm and lead guitar. Paoio Neta handles rythm and lead guitar. Brian Doherty is the lead guitarist.

In addition to the guitar threesome there was Dave McMillan on bass.  Brad Park took care of the sticks and drum skins. All are seasoned performers. One thing that struck me, was Dave McMillan on bass. He was all over the stage area. His performance reminded me more of a super lead guitarist, than that of a bass player and a great one at that. Dave’s performance was great to see.

Before the show started a Radio Station DJ mentioned that Big Wreck would soon be returning to the studio, to record a new album. When that news was announced,  a huge cheer went up from the audience filled with Big Wreck fans.
