The IBL has been around since 1919. The Toronto team is called the Toronto Maple Leaf Baseball Club. It is an organization owned and run by Mr Jack Dominico. Mr. Dominico’s late wife Lynne was a co-owner for 40 years. They both created something special, which Jack Dominico continues.

The Intercounty Baseball League is a minor league with teams in Hamilton, Brantford, Burlington, London, Guelph, Barrie, Kitchener and Toronto. There used to be another great team from Oshawa called the Oshawa Dodgers, which sadly folded. The Oshawa Dodgers was run by real baseball fans and super nice folks to deal with.

The unique thing about Jack Dominico and the Toronto Maple Leaf Baseball Club, is that all the home games are available at no charge. You can view the games on Rogers Cable. You can also venture down to Christie Pits (Bloor St West and Christie area) and catch the game live and at no charge. Game programs are also free. Team baseball caps are often sold at super low prices.

Christie Pits is a great place to bring your family. Pets are also welcome. Super way to spend a sunny Sunday afternoon, watching great baseball. In this age of sports teams increasing fees to fans, it is really unique that something this good is available at no charge.

There are public washrooms at the park. Probably a good idea to pack a roll of toilet paper just in case they run out. You can bring your own food and beverages. Make a family picnic out of it.

Free street parking surrounds Christie Pits. I would not recommend parking near the diamond where the game is played. High fly balls can make it out of the pit and hit the parked vehicles. Just drive around north and west of the Christie Pits and you should have no problem finding a parking spot on the street. Make sure that you read all the Parking Signs. I’ve parked at games for years and have never had any problems finding a parking spot.

If you are a visitor to Toronto, make it a point to catch a Toronto Maple Leaf Baseball game at Christie Pits. It’s very close to the Christie Subway station. The park is safe and it’s clean.Super way to spend a Sunday with your lover and or your family and create a fond memory of Toronto.

And it’s free, thanks to Mr Dominico.
