Capital One was Hacked. Data and private info of 100 million people in the United States and 6 million in Canada was stolen.

As per the FBI, allegedly a Firewall was incorrectly configured. The Hack had occurred on Mar 22 and 23rd of 2019.

Approximately 140,000 US Social Security Numbers were stolen. Approximately One Million Canadian Social Insurance Numbers (SIN) were stolen.

According to the criminal complaint, THOMPSON allegedly posted on the public information sharing site GitHub about her theft of information from the Cloud servers storing Capital One data. When the FBI arrested the female who allegedly breached Capital One’s Cloud storage, the FBI executed a search warrant at THOMPSON’s residence and seized electronic storage devices containing a copy of the data.

Capital One had all this info posted to an un-named Cloud Service. The arrested female allegedly was a former Tech employee of Amazon Web Services.

The Alleged female Hacker will be in court this coming Thursday (Aug 01) for a Bail Hearing.
