On Tuesday night, Donald Trump halted his first speech before Congress to honor the widow of fallen Navy SEAL William “Ryan Owens.
“For as the Bible teaches us, there is no greater act of love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends,” Trump said. “Ryan laid down his life for his friends, for his country, and for our freedom. And we will never forget Ryan.”
Liberals accused Trump of shamelessly using Carryn Owens, but what he secretly did before the speech for her and her three children shows that he actually wasn’t using her at all.
Bizpac Review reported that White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer revealed on Wednesday that Trump the Owens family privately before the speech to ask Carryn Owens if she would be alright with him referencing her during his speech. She reportedly replied, “I’d like that.”
“Even with referencing her in the speech, that was her decision,” Spicer said.
Trump deliberately kept the meeting with Owens and her children private in an effort to protect them from reporters. After his speech, Trump immediately found Owens and embraced her.
