Photos of the “Jessica Mitchell” concert at the Luminato Festival on Friday June 26 2015

Finally got a chance to visit the Luminato Festival, in Toronto this year. We had shot a lot of concerts at the 2014 Luminato Festival. I really enjoyed the low key,, up close and personal concerts. Huge contrast on Friday night, when I later headed to Nathan Phillips Square which was jam packed with people taking in a Toronto Jazz Festival concert.

The “Jessica Mitchell” concert at Luminato will be the only one which we covered this year. Very nice performance.

The (new for me) Nikon D7000 camera was driving me nuts. I had previously shot with Nikon D1Xs and D2s and so I did not bother to look at the D7000 Users manual.

The D7000 apparently uses the same 16 megapixel sensor that the Sony A57 uses. Super in low light for an APS-C sensor. I’m reluctant to switch to a Full Frame sensor camera, because I like the extra reach of the APS-C sensor.

Shooting from the Photog Pit is no fun. I try and stay out of it, because you usually get Microphone mouth shots. By moving to the side of the stage, you eliminate or greatly reduce Microphone Mouth photos.

Anyhow, the Nikon D7000 was not focusing properly and was also blowing highlights. Not the camera’s fault. I hate reading camera user’s manuals.

After reading bits of the camera manual, I changed some settings and the Auto Focus seems to now work properly. I also now underexpose and bracket my shots with the D7000.

The Jessica Mitchell concert shots are the result of the changes made. Duh, reading the Camera User’s Manual helped….
